Friday October 20,2006. my mother had to have a surgery to have a portion of her
leg amputated.There is a blockage in her main artery in her leg that
has caused her to have very poor circulation. Her poor circulation is
the reason that her toes and foot got infected and then went gangrene.
My older brother and I talked with her doctor about a possible
vascular bypass and the doctor explained that she was not a good
candidate for that. The best option was to have a partial amputation
just below her knee. This does not correct the blockage in her main
artery in her leg, the focus was on the gangrene.

She made it through the surgery and they are keeping her in ICU. for
observation. We all talked to her doctor this afternoon and he told us
that it's one day at a time and that shes doing as well as to be
expected.

We had to postpone our trip to Florida to be with my mother.
