I got a letter from the Vet at the animal clinic in the mail yesterday. It was the results from the biopsy they took of Empurrer's tumor. Here's exactally what the vet wrote just under the lab results.

"squamous cell carcinoma was what we were suspicious of.
It is a malignant cancer that is very locally aggressive.
Rest assured your decision was kind and mericiful."

I'm comforted to know that, I've felt guilty and 2nd. guessed our decision every since we had to put him down.

I know you probably have gone to bed by now so I thought I would just email
you. Sorry about your cat.

You mother did not want me to upset you but wanted me to let you know a few
things. She called me at 9:30 last night and said that Stevie had gone to
Shiela's to spend the night. He left her sitting up in the chair and around
4:30 AM she evidently called the ADT thing and they called Stevie at
Sheila's. She was sliding out of the chair. Stevie came home and she said
that he cussed her out and kept on for a long time. I have been on the phone
all afternoon with her, Margaret and Eleanor.

Margaret and Ray went over to see her this afternoon. I called Margaret and
she said that your mother was walking a little with the walker. Then your
mother called me again and she that she told Stevie what the case worker had
told him about not leaving her alone - that he could be charged with abuse.
I don't know why she told him - but you know she is in bad shape, mentally
and physically. He told her that it wasn't worth getting the house to have
to put up with her and that she was going to make him lose Shiela. So Stevie
and Sheila left again mad. I am going to call her before I go to bed to see
if they come back tonight or not.

Well, your mother just called. She said that the called Shiela on her cell
phone and that they are coming back to spend the night. I don't think you
will get this email tonight. When you get it tomorrow, you need to call your
mother. Something has got to be done. She cannot be left alone. If there are
other nursing homes that might be better, we can go one day and look. To me,
anything is better than being treated the way Stevie treats her and being
alone.

Here is a copy of a reply to a friend who I asked for his advice.

God hears and answers prayer.The one sure way to bind the demonic spirits coming agaist you is to pray. And a little backup would be good. This is what I suggest, Call everyone you know, who knows how to get a hold of God. Sunday have a prayer day for Dorthy. Anyone who can pray and will pray have them to do so any part of the day or all day. Anyone who would be willing to fast one meal that would be great.
Greater his he that is in me than he that is in the world. You are not fighting Steve, you are fighting a spiritual warfare. You don't have to put up with it. If God be for us then who can be against us. Remember it is not Steve you are fighting. Keep me posted , I'll be glad to help you pray.

Hi Phill, good to talk to you too and hope you are managing to find some R+R on your day off. Phil, my thoughts about your aunt's letter is that your Mom does need to go into a nursing home full time. Your brother seems incapable of taking care of her and obviously you cannot do it on a regular basis. Medicaid may be able to pay for it if your Mom has assets below a certain monetary value. She may need to have the house taken out of her name. I'm not sure what medicare would cover, but it seems like they should do something. Perhaps your aunt can help you find a person to be your Mom's case manager. This would probably be a social worker with the geriatric unit of her county's mental health center. You will need to find this number and call and get some additional regular help--a social worker to help get her in a home where she can get the 24 hour care she needs.

Empurrror crossed the rainbow bridge on August 10,2006. He was born in November 1995, he lived almost 11 years and we were his parents for over 2 years. We took Empurror to get a 2nd opinion and the prognosis was the same as the original vet, so that really gave us piece of mind and was a comfort to us to know that we got a 2nd opinion.

The 2nd vet examined Empurror and determined his cancer was too aggressive and said if Empurror was his cat, he would put him to sleep to end his suffering. That night as we had to force feed him because he was unable to use his tongue.Since Thursday Aug.3 Empurror was not able to eat from his bowl we had to feed him through a syringe. poor thing even had alot of trouble even swallowing water.

The next day it was the same thing, he had trouble even swallowing water,and it was just a matter of time before he could'nt swallow air. Later in the day we took him back to the original Vet and they told us that it was a possibility that he could either starve to death or choke on his tongue.
We had time to say a proper goodbye to him. We brought Empurrer home and we burried him under the tree in our back yard. We burried him with his Garfield blanket and his food dish and mat, with an Angel sitting on Empurror's favorite perch watching over him making sure he is safe.

We are grieving for the loss of our beloved cat "Empurror" We love our precious little angel so very much. We will miss him. We know he is in a better place and probably has a girlfriend and is in kitty heaven.

We have bad news, his cancer has spread and it's inoperable.
They only give hin 2 or 3 weeks to live.Maybe a month at best.
The vet has giving us some pain meds for Emperor and we have brought him home to die. This is really tough to even type this.

The vet took out as much of the tumor from Emperor's mouth as they could and they saw that the cancer was at the base of his tongue.
He never ate anything the whole weekend and he was drooling something once every half hour or so. We gave him a little food with his pain medication and some water through a syringe.

My wife and I talked to our friend who is realy knowledgable about cats and she told us that if he can't eat or drink that he would die of starvation before the cancer would kill him.
As many of you already know, My wife is a cancer survivor and is unable to have children. Emperor is our surrogate child,thats the only way to explain it.

I'm afraid that we will have to put him to sleep,we can't stand for him to suffer like this.Please keep us in your thoughts and prayers. Thank you so much.

Update: The animal clinic called me here at work and asked how he was doing? I told them everything and they said just bring him in tomorrow or Wednesday and they would give him another pain shot. They also told me that it's not surprizing that he has'nt ate much, after all they did cut that out of his mouth.

My wife called me just now and told me that Gaylord Entertainment called and offered her the job,she is heading out on Monday.
They hired her with just a telephone interview!!!!

She will work at the Opryland Hotel as a Hotel reservationist to start out, they promice to move her up the latter. They know she has a four year bachelor's degree.

I do not have a timetable for when I will leave,it all depends on how quickly our house sells.
I thought my job was going to end at the end of July, but they have not told us anything. So, in this case no news is good news.

My wife and I are moving to Nashville , Music city USA. Tennessee.
We have made up our mind, we have been talking about moving to Nashville Tn, to be nearer to my mother. She's still not doing very well.

Also the job market is better down there than it is around here. We drove down there last week and my wife had 2 different interviews and she also signed up with a job placement service. I'll get one when I move down there. I've been E-mailing resume's to Nashville companies already. I've got an accdount on Monster.com and career builder also.

The plan is that my wife Lesli would live with our friends Terri and Marc for awhile and work down there in Nashville. I would stay here in Lexington to sell our house and stuff.

I still do not know what my status is here at IBM, the account I work on is being outsourced overseas. I still have a job and I'm still working, but I don't know for how much longer. I'll keep on coming to work until they tell me not to.
They have not told us anything. I don't know what is going to happen next.

Also, Prayers please for our cat Emperor,My wife took him to the vet on Friday 7/28/2006. and he has a Tumor inside of his mouth. They did blood work on him and the results will come in on Monday or Tuesday if it is cancerous.

We noticed something was wrong with him probably a month ago when he was eating from his bowl and food would drop out of his mouth onto the floor. We had no idea that it could be a tumor we just thought that he's getting old, he's over 10 years old. We had wanted to take him to the vet earlier but we have been tied up with dealing with my mother and everything.
